družabništvo za vse / companionship for all

Družine bodo občutile podporo in razbremenitev.
  • Ozaveščevalna kampanja: Kampanja bo dosegla vsaj 50.000 ljudi. Pričakovani odzivi odločevalcev, medijev in strokovne javnosti bodo spodbudili razpravo o temi.
  • Zagovorniške aktivnosti: Pripravljeni bodo predlogi sprememb zakonodaje, zbrani podpisi podpore, izvedena srečanja z ministrstvi in javni posvet.

The programme Companionship for All addresses a significant challenge: many children and young people with disabilities do not have opportunities to participate in sports, cultural, or youth activities. Although such support would contribute to greater independence, friendships, and a sense of belonging, they are often excluded because they are minors or already receive other forms of assistance. As a result, many grow up at home, without access to experiences that their peers gain every day.

For young people with intellectual disabilities or autism, this means limited opportunities for social interaction, learning new skills, and developing independence. Families are often overburdened, and children become even more isolated from their peers and the wider community.

The Companionship for All programme aims to change these circumstances. Through trained companions, young people will be enabled to regularly participate in sports, cultural, and other community activities. At the same time, the programme will establish cooperation with schools, public institutions, and decision-makers, contributing to greater accessibility and a more inclusive environment for children with diverse needs.

In addition to direct support for young people, the programme also includes a broader public awareness campaign that will clearly communicate that the inclusion of children with disabilities is not an act of charity, but a fundamental right. The goal of the programme is clear: every child and young person must have the opportunity to be part of the community, not excluded from it.

Expected Results

  • Regular participation of children and young people with disabilities: Twenty children and young people will have the opportunity to regularly engage in sports, cultural, or youth activities with the support of trained companions, who will accompany, motivate, and assist them in taking their first steps into community life. Families will experience support and relief.
  • Public awareness campaign: The campaign will reach at least 50,000 people. Through clear messages, personal stories, and videos, it will highlight that these young people are often “invisible” and that inclusion is their right. Expected responses from decision-makers, the media, and the professional community will stimulate public discussion on the issue.
  • Advocacy activities: Proposals for legislative changes will be prepared, signatures of support collected, meetings with ministries organised, and a public consultation held. The aim is to amend the legislation so that minors with disabilities can also access social inclusion services.
  • Changes in public institutions: Three organisations (e.g. a cultural venue, a youth centre, and a sports club) will become more accessible with the support of the programme. They will adapt their premises, communication, and working methods to include users whom they previously were unable or unprepared to accommodate.
