več civilne družbe = več demokracije / more civil society = more democracy

Projekt vključuje raziskavo mnenj o NVO, posvet voditeljev, pripravo gradiv in kampanjo.

Kaj bodo dosegli:

Vmesni rezultati:

  • Izsledki raziskave o pogledih (pretežno) katoličanov na NVO.
  • Posvet voditeljev o pomenu civilne družbe in NVO.
  • 2 lekciji o pomenu civilne družbe in nevladnih organizacij (posebej tematik, povezanih z zagovorništvom in financiranjem) na portalu https://razgledan.si.

DOSEŽKI

Ključni rezultat 1: 1,936 odzivov na kampanjo.

Ključni rezultat 2: 151 odzivov o spremenjenih pogledih z dogodkov v živo. V ta namen smo organizirali 10 dogodkov v živo:

  • Trst, 25. 3. 2024
  • Podutik, 6. 5. 2024
  • Planina pri Rakeku, 11. 5. 2024
  • Lenart v Slovenskih Goricah, 27. 5. 2024
  • Ljubljana (Integrum), 29. 5. 2024
  • Zagorje ob Savi, 31. 5. 2024
  • Maribor, 3. 6. 2024
  • Ljubljana (SKI), 5. 6. 2024
  • Domžale, 13. 6. 2024
  • Socialna akademija, 25. 6. 2024

Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are often viewed negatively by a significant portion of Slovenian society. Events in recent years, especially controversies surrounding public tenders, have further worsened this perception. People hold various opinions about NGOs: that they are corrupt, should not be funded, are extensions of political parties, or produce no meaningful results. At the same time, they overlook that NGOs also include fire and mountaineering associations, Caritas and the Red Cross, Scouts and Guiding organizations, and some theater groups, folklore ensembles, and choirs.

The project "More Civil Society = More Democracy" focuses particularly on Catholics in Slovenia (but not exclusively). Its goal is to understand their (justified and unjustified) opinions about NGOs and to ensure these views become more grounded and well-argued. This effort will help this segment of the population—especially less active in advocacy NGOs (those that influence political decisions)—better engage with civil society, contributing to a greater diversity of opinions, democracy, and a better world.

The project involves a study on opinions about NGOs, a leadership consultation, preparation of materials, and a campaign.

What they will achieve:

Key results:

  • 1,000 responses from the public to the online campaign (including social media reactions, video views, lesson views, and comments, based on contact with tens of thousands of people via the campaign).
  • 120 short feedbacks from individuals about changed perceptions of NGOs, mostly from participants in live events.
  • 3 in-depth articles on the importance of NGOs and civil society for strengthening democracy, published in prominent media (from a Catholic perspective).

Intermediate results:

  • Findings from the study on perceptions of NGOs (primarily among Catholics).
  • A leadership consultation on the importance of civil society and NGOs.
  • Two lessons on the importance of civil society and NGOs (with a focus on advocacy and funding) published on the platform https://razgledan.si.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Key Result 1: 1,936 responses to the campaign.

Key Result 2: 151 responses on changed perspectives from live events. For this purpose, we organized 10 live events:

  • Trieste, March 25, 2024
  • Podutik, May 6, 2024
  • Planina pri Rakeku, May 11, 2024
  • Lenart in Slovenske Gorice, May 27, 2024
  • Ljubljana (Integrum), May 29, 2024
  • Zagorje ob Savi, May 31, 2024
  • Maribor, June 3, 2024
  • Ljubljana (SKI), June 5, 2024
  • Domžale, June 13, 2024
  • Socialna akademija, June 25, 2024

At each event, we collected written feedback from participants. Some provided responses, while others did not. Depending on the target group, the method of gathering responses varied, either on paper or electronically (Padlet). The total number of responses was 151. If an individual provided multiple responses (with the card allowing for 3 insights), they were counted as one.

Key Result 3: 5 media publications.
